The origin and design of the trailer skid came from extensive experience in the very conditions that apply to its use. Travelling off road on our extensive coastline beaches or conquering the outback there will be times where soft sand, mud or snow will place you in difficult recovery situations. The ‘Trailer Skid’ will give you confidence wherever you travel. Designed to be used with or without the jockey wheel it allows you to recover whatever you are towing to secure ground. It doubles as a support platform for the jockey wheel when parked on soft ground and keeps your trailer hitch and mechanicals out of the sand and mud. It also allows you to manoeuvre your van or camper trailer in tight spots without the jockey wheel sinking into the ground. Important
During recent testing of our recovery skid we have evaluated the performance of the skid in varying conditions. We have found that wet sand and mud can cause the skid to move off line whilst towing a trailer to secure ground. This is more prevalent if the trailer has a very light ball weight such as a jet ski or small camper trailer. To counter this we have used a small soft shackle attached to the handle of the skid and over the tow rope as per the diagram shown below. This effectively keeps the skid on track through the whole process.
